Preventive Care

Updated: Friday March 8, 2013

Patients who are enrolled with our physicians have the benefit of being part of our Preventive Care services. There are four preventive care categories for which reminder letters are mailed to enrolled patients.

On review of your records, reminder letters are mailed to the following enrolled patients:

  • Mammogram reminders for female patients who are between 50 and 69 years of age
  • Pap smear reminders for female patients who are between 21 and 69 years of age
  • Pap smear guidelines have changed!!!
Pap smears now start at the age of 21 (instead of 35)
Pap smears are now recommended every 3 years as per Cancer Care Ontario guidelines
If you have an abnormal pap smear, the frequency of paps will change and your doctor will let you know how often they are to be done.
  • Influenza vaccine reminders for patients who are 65 years or older
  • Childhood immunization reminders for children who are aged 30 to 42 months of age.
